Almost all bloggers do off-page SEO whether they are aware of it or not.

If you promote your blog on social media, reach out to other bloggers to collaborate with them, or basically do anything “off page” that will have an impact on your blog, that is off-page SEO.

Off-page SEO, unlike on-page SEO, is done mostly to increase the domain authority of a blog, and it involves entities outside your control.

Having a high domain authority has a lot of benefits that’s why this should be part of your SEO strategy even though the process is laborious, and you may receive lots of rejections along the way.

It will show people that your content is reliable, and more of your blog posts will rank because search engines will see it as a trustworthy source of information.

On-page SEO alone can put your blog posts at the top of search engine results pages, but it’s not enough if your goal is to influence your audience or to be an industry leader.

SERPs placement changes. It is not guaranteed that you will remain on the first page in years to come.

You need to implement an off-page SEO strategy so that even if your audience is on your competitor’s website, on a website outside your industry but related, or on social media, your brand is there.

How to Do Off-page SEO for Beginners

One of the off-page SEO strategies that many brands prioritize is link building. They reach out to other bloggers to get backlinks from them.

Backlinks, if they come from websites with high domain authority, will increase their website’s domain authority.

Think of Forbes.

Forbes has a 94 domain authority score, which gives the impression that they are more influential, powerful, and reliable than other websites that do similar things to them.

Many of its articles are on the first page, and it is one of those websites that you won’t hesitate to link to because you know that your audience won’t doubt its credibility.

Wikipedia has a 98 domain authority score, but even though the information it provides isn’t always reliable, it is almost always the first result that appears on search engines. Try it.

Websites like Forbes and Wikipedia with a high domain score don’t need to reach out to other bloggers anymore to get backlinks. People voluntarily link back to them because they have authority.

If your domain authority is on the low side, some of the off-page SEO tactics you can do are:

  • Submitting guest posts to other blogs
  • Collaborating with other brands in your industry
  • Creating shareable content on any platform so that people share your content without telling them to
  • Commenting on other blog posts
  • Having an active social media presence
  • Participating in forums and online communities in your industry

The list goes on. Any off-page activities that you do for your blog are basically what off-page SEO is all about.
